Even if you haven't read the first and second books of the Painful Deliverance series, you might still enjoy the third book - Friendship of Desire. Although there is a crossover in the story where the main characters, Samantha and Tom, meet Alexis and find themselves curious about her relationship with Lincoln, the story of Samantha and Tom is an enjoyable read in its own right. Friends from early childhood, this story follows them through to adulthood and the challenges with being friends as both of them notice changes in how they start to react to and around each other.
